Am I pregnant and when should I take a test if I am?

Ok me and my boyfriend had 9 days ago. 5 days ago it was time for my period but I didn't bleed at all. I started experiencing minor cramping in my abdominal area and it is similar to menstrual cramping but I'm not sure if that's what it is, yesterday we had again and I started bleeding lightly. I have several symptoms such as urinating more often, severe increase in appetite, nausea, enlarged , fatigue, ect. I took a test about 2 days ago and it was the 5 day early test, it came out negative. Did I take the test too early? Or was it right and I'm not or couldn't be pregnant? I also just recently stopped taking Yasmin birth control pills. Please help!
