Bullet grain question?

I reload for 7.62X54r I use Barnes TSX .311 dia bullets 150gr. Finding 150 gr fmj to zero with is difficult I have a few boxes on order at the local cabelas and they still have not come in yet. I refuse to use milsurp its corrosive and inconsistent. I can find .311 Spitzer 150gr softpoints to reload with but I am concerned with the lead on the tip setting back and causing accurarcy issues. So my other alternative is to buy Hornady .311 174 gr. FMJ. Its heavier than my 150 grain Barnes hunting bullet so I realize there will be more drop but how much drop would I be lookig at at 300yds over the 150gr hunting bullet. Bottom line could I use 174 Gr. FMJ to zero for a 150 gr premium bullet?
