How did your first year of playing cello progress?

I don't remember enough of those days. I started aged 9, having played piano for a couple of years before that. Picking up the instrument, playing, and loving it weren't hard. I flew through book one, but don't remember much between that and book 5, partly because I was focused on AMEB exams. I believe I looked at book 5 when I was 11 or 12 but didn't spend much time with it.
