Is there such thing as transferring vdo's, from VCR, to home computers?

I had found some old vhs home vdo's of my friends and I, who are in a far away country. I can't afford to buy another vcr and make copies of the vdos to mail them the copies. But they do have e-mails addresses. So I'm hoping there are ways I can transfer vdo's from my vcr, to my computer, to be able to e-mail them the vdo's or put it on youtube, so they can see it, or something. I mean, I've gone to the stores to see if they sell the wires where you can connect the vcr to the computer and I can't find any wires that have a usb porter thingy in one end and a vcr cable connector thingy on the other end. Does anyone know if that type of cable wire has been invented, if so which stores sell them? Thank you.
