Outcast of the family
Well, I am so sorry that you are made to feel that way first of all. You are an individual and are entitled to your own likes and dislikes and it is quite sad that you don't fit into the "perfect mold" that your mom has envisioned for you...And at 14 years old, that is a very difficult thing to handle...not only is she scrutinizing you, she is comparing you to your older brother...something that should NEVER be done. You are not your brother and your mom souldn't expect you to be....It sounds like you are a very nice, very normal young man and you know what you like and you shouldn't have to make excuses for that..If your mom won't listen to you, how do you get along with your brother.?.Can you talk to him so that he understands what you are going through..?? Maybe he could sit down and talk to your mom about how you are feeling about all of this. And If there is no getting through to Mom, I feel really bad for you...Is there another adult in your life that you can go to for support...an uncle or relative...??? We all need to be heard and respected and felt supported by someone...Good luck and I wish you all the best....Just keep your sights on the future. One day you will not have to live with all of this negativity and you will be amazed how wonderful it will be to be out in the world on your own.....!!!!
